'The Gentlemen's Market - Bons Rapazes' is the result of a partnership promoted by the duo 'Bons Rapazes', mentors of the fashion and lifestyle website www.bonsrapazes.com . The same happened when, around three years ago, social media consultant Tiago Froufe and actor Pedro Teixeira embarked on the adventure of creating wines with their own stamp. This without neglecting the supervision of the oenology team at Lavradores de Feitoria.
After the first edition, the 'Bons Rapazes by Lavradores de Feitoria white 2017' and the 'Bons Rapazes by Lavradores de Feitoria Reserva red 2015' are now on the market, with a retail price of €5.00 and €11.00, respectively.
Like Pedro Teixeira and Tiago Froufe, the 'Bons Rapazes by Lavradores de Feitoria white 2017' has a young and fresh profile, thanks to the grape varieties harvested from vineyards between 25 and 30 years old. And not only that. These characteristics are also due to the set of typical Douro grape varieties – Malvasia Fina, Gouveio and Síria –, to which Sauvignon Blanc was added, with an even more exuberant freshness and aromatic complexity. After fermentation and ageing, both carried out in stainless steel, the result is a wine with a lemony citrine colour. On the nose it is quite fruity, with notes of pineapple, white plum and citrus, which give it freshness and aromatic complexity. On the palate it is smooth, fine and elegant; with intense fruit, it reveals itself to be greedy and very tasty. With good acidity, the finish is tart, balanced and harmonious. It is, therefore, a versatile white, ready to enjoy this summer.
In turn, the 'Bons Rapazes by Lavradores de Feitoria Reserva red 2015' preserves, in its essence, a more serious Douro, not only because of the winemaking process in the winery, but also because of the grape varieties used in the making of this wine. Present are Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz and Touriga Franca, the main one of this range of grape varieties native to the region, as it comes from a very particular plot of vineyard, located in the Pinhão River Valley, where it becomes fresher and more elegant. After harvesting, the grapes were fermented in stainless steel vats and stone presses, followed by a 50% ageing of the batch in stainless steel, 25% in new French oak barrels and 25% in second-year French oak barrels, for 12 months. This 2015 red thus displays a bright, concentrated red colour. The nose is elegant and complex, with a predominance of red fruit notes, such as black plum and blackberry. The woody notes are delicate and well integrated into the wine. The palate is tasty, with notes of very ripe red fruit. It is full-bodied and complex, with soft, velvety tannins; it is also elegant and fresh, with good acidity that gives it excellent balance. The finish is fine and long, promising longevity.
