Social media entrepreneur Tiago Froufe da Costa (Luvin) conceived it, actor Pedro Teixeira thought it up, and Lavradores de Feitoria made it happen. And so two wines were born under the signature 'Bons Rapazes by Lavradores de Feitoria'. A white from 2016 and a Reserva red from 2014, these are the two references that start this duo of Bacchus nectars. An initiative that resulted, first, from a relationship that began over a year ago and, then, from a marriage that dictates perfection down to the last detail.
“A simple white and a red for the table” was what Pedro Teixeira and Tiago Froufe da Costa, friends and mentors of the Bons Rapazes website, asked Lavradores de Feitoria. After being presented in a preview at the Douro TGV in May, 'Bons Rapazes by Lavradores de Feitoria' is now arriving on the market, exclusively to wine shops and restaurants. To everyone's delight, it will also be on sale in www.bonsrapazes.com .
With roots in winemaking and a true wine lover, Tiago Froufe da Costa had been “designing” a wine that would taste something of himself for a long time. Less knowledgeable, but still an appreciator, his friend and partner in this whole Good Guys thing loved the idea. A goodwill campaign promoted by LF was the reason for them to go ahead. Together they headed to the Douro to get their hands dirty.
This is, therefore, a story with a happy ending translated into a duet of wines made by “four hands” – because, on the one hand, there are two Good Guys and, on the other, the plot includes two interpreters, that is, the Bons Rapazes website and Lavradores de Feitoria.
Two wines, two brands
With a young, fruity and fresh profile, this first edition of ' Bons Rapazes white ' is a 2016 DOC Douro. Versatile and uncomplicated, it is a wine for everyday use. With a citrus colour, it is the result of a blend of Malvasia Fina grape varieties, which gives it elegance, and Gouveio, which intensifies the freshness that pairs well with the fruity aroma and flavour of the Síria and Sauvignon Blanc grape varieties. A wine subjected to fermentation and ageing in stainless steel, a detail that enhances the good presence of fruit. The minerality and balanced acidity give it complexity and a long finish on the palate.
The ' Bons Rapazes Reserva red 2014 ' is the result of a combination of sensations that converged in the choice of Touriga Franca, from a plot of vineyards in the Pinhão River Valley, a place in the Douro where this variety is at its freshest and most elegant. The grape variety that plays the main role in this wine was joined by Tinta Roriz and Touriga Nacional, a trio of grape varieties from vines over 30 years old. Fermentation took place in stainless steel vats and stone presses, followed by a 50% ageing period in stainless steel, 25% in new French oak barrels and 25% in second-year French oak barrels, for 12 months. The result: all together, this red wine has a deep, vivid red colour. On the nose, it is very aromatic and elegant, with predominant notes of ripe red fruits, such as black cherry and cassis, thanks to the ageing in second-year French oak barrels, from which spices also stand out – and on the palate. At the same time, it denotes freshness, making it a balanced wine, with good structure and which promises longevity in the bottle.
