There are two new wines from the Douro producer Lavradores de Feitoria (LDF): a white with an international profile and a typically Douro red. The 'Três Bagos Sauvignon Blanc 2013' and 'Quinta da Costa das Aguaneiras 2010' are now on the market and will be presented by their creator, winemaker Paulo Ruão, in a tasting to take place at Friday, May 2nd, from 7pm, at Garage Wine , in Matosinhos (at Avenida Menéres, nº 681).
'Three Berries' Sauvignon Blanc 2013' is the eleventh harvest of a wine that began as an experimental wine but quickly became a critical and sales success among consumers. A white wine fermented and aged partially in wood, it has a bright colour with hints of lemon citrus. The aroma is very exuberant, fresh and reveals tropical nuances such as passion fruit, pineapple and some asparagus. On the palate it is very pleasant, quite fruity – with ripe fruit such as pineapple and melon – less tropical than the aroma, but very tasty and long. It is recommended to serve at 11ºC, as an aperitif or to accompany salads, hot and cold soups, creams, fish, cod, octopus, shellfish, white meats, pasta with white and red sauce, semi-cured cheeses or cold cuts.
Full and complex; warm and with very ripe fruit (full-bodied), but at the same time very elegant and fine (soft tannins). These are the characteristics that, according to the oenology team at Lavradores de Feitoria, define a Douro wine. And 'Quinta das Costa das Aguaneiras' is just that! The 2010 harvest has a bright, intense and deep red colour. The aroma is full, intense and quite fruity, with aromas of very ripe red fruit, reminiscent of cherry and blackberry. The aroma also reveals nuances of vanilla and spices, very well integrated and coming from its aging in wood. On the palate, the entry is fresh; it is a very balanced wine, with very present fruit, soft tannins, good acidity and a good structure. The finish is tasty, fresh and long, which promises great longevity.
