The 'Cheda' brand has just launched the 2016 white, following the rosé, also from 2016, and the 2014 red. A trio of wines designed, in particular, for the uncomplicated consumer, and whose batches are made from grapes from vines between 25 and 30 years old, coming from the farms of the various producers of Lavradores de Feitoria.
With a young, fruity and fresh profile, 'Cheda white' contains in its “formula” the Malvasia Fina, Síria and Gouveio grape varieties. A highly aromatic white, with a bright citrus colour and a noticeable presence of fruit on the nose, such as white plum and ripe pineapple, complemented by floral notes. On the palate, 'Cheda white 2016' expresses freshness, minerality and a good balance between structure and acidity, with the fruit once again standing out, but at the level of apricot and ripe banana.
Made from Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca grape varieties, 'Cheda rosé' has a distinctly gastronomic profile. The 2016 harvest has a salmon-coloured colour and hints of fruit, particularly red fruits such as raspberry, which, in harmony with the freshness of pineapple and citrus notes, gives it vivacity and elegance on the palate. A fresh and elegant rosé; an excellent choice to start a summer meal with the family or a late afternoon get-together with friends.
With an intense and deep ruby red colour, 'Cheda tinto 2014' is, like the previous ones, a DOC Douro, this time made from three typical Douro grape varieties: Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz and Touriga Nacional. The batch was fermented in stainless steel vats, but aged for eight months between stainless steel (2/3) and used French oak barrels (1/3). The nose reveals an intense and very fruity wine, with aromas of very ripe red fruit, such as plum, complemented by the spices from the aging in wood. On the palate, this 'Cheda tinto' is fresh, very balanced, with a strong presence of fruit, soft tannins, good acidity and an excellent structure. The finish is very fresh, demonstrating the ability to evolve for more years in the bottle.
Launched by Lavradores de Feitoria in 2004, the 'Cheda' brand remained on the market until 2010. It was relaunched years later, in 2014, by the producer, in an exclusive partnership for the national market, with the distributor Garcias. The relaunch included the trio presented above – 'Cheda white', 'Cheda rosé' and 'Cheda red' – and a 'Cheda Reserva red' (€11.00). In 2016, it was the turn of a new reference, the 'Cheda Reserva white' (€10.50). These wines are on sale in wine shops, specialist stores and in restaurants and other points of the horeca channel, but are not available in large supermarkets.
