Our wine Quinta da Costa das Aguaneiras 2014 was among the best red wines in the wine competition of the event "Grandes Escolhas | Vinhos e Sabores" that took place from 27 to 30 October at FIL, in Lisbon. It was therefore awarded the "Prémio Grandes Escolhas" seal.
It is the recognition of the quality of our terroir wine which, as the name suggests, is produced from grapes from a single farm in Lavradores de Feitoria.
The Touriga Nacional and Tinta Roriz grapes that give it body are grown in the Quinta da Costa vineyards, which are between 30 and 60 years old. In keeping with tradition, the grapes are trodden by foot in the stone presses at Casa de Mateus, in Vila Real, and then left to age for 12 months in new French oak barrels.
The average annual production is just around 5,000 bottles.
